Empire Glassworks has been around since 2013, a relative baby in the industry but with artists/owners who collectively have 40+ years of experience in crafting exquisite glass pieces for high-end jewellery production. Each and every product they create are hand crafted and are individually designed by highly skilled glassblowers using the highest quality imported glass they can source (all done within the USA). Empire Glassworks uses a very special glassblowing technique whereby they incorporate intricate colours into the glass itself resulting in some pretty impressive 3-D sculptures. Each piece then ends its journey in a kiln where they are fired at 1000 degrees Fahrenheit with higher temperatures making for a strong durable product with incredibly rich bursts of colour.
RENEW THE REDWOOD
Empire is known for being a little over the top, but this is on a new level! I will start with the easier parts first. This water pipe is a standard “beaker” in shape and on the shorter side compared to many other beakers. The base is really thick, actually all of the borosilicate glass is extremely thick making this water pipe quite durable. The mouthpiece is even double reinforced. Beakers are all about oversized water reservoirs to enable larger inhalations and a long neck is standard for a beaker. For its size this water pipe has a rather roomy chamber with a well-proportioned neck.

TIP: Every part of this water pipe is made using the highest quality American Borosilicate Glass.
The water chamber is clear glass with the artwork focused upon the neck and the included flower bowl. The neck (12cms) is tinted a shade of brown, this is the beginning of the “tree”. A tree with many residents. Tiny, detailed figurines have been applied around the neck. Flora and Fauna that can be found within a Redwood Forest. The detail is quite extraordinary. Mushrooms, leaves, stems, ladybugs and owls with eyes that stare at you!
The down stem is of the diffusion variety (dual slits) and is fixed in place. Clear until the very end where it gradually turns amber/brown to match the neck. A 14mm removable male flower bowl is provided and of course it too is elaborate! An opaque glass flower bowl with the same intricate artwork as the water pipe. I would say it is small to medium in size for moderate hits.
This is definitely a collector’s piece, but this is probably one of the easier Empire Glassworks water pipes to clean/maintain as the artwork is all on the exterior. Many of their other pieces include internal works that require a little more extra care.
