EMPRESS WATER PIPE
I have waited a little while for this lady! I ordered some the second that Grav showed me their new wares, but current world events (a pandemic) have placed a dent in many of my plans. Finally, I have my hands on the Empress and I knew I would be impressed!
A rather elegantly simple piece with an emphasis on percolation. Super Tough Borosilicate Heat Resistant glass has been used. Not the tallest but definitely one of my bigger water pipes/beakers. The water chamber is massive with slanted walls that lead to a wide and very flat base. The chamber narrows, not once but twice as you travel up towards the neck. A pretty important feature when you have a large water chamber designed for intense filtration, helping to eliminate splash back. The neck is long and ends in a very flat, reinforced and rounded off mouthpiece.
As beautiful as this piece is the magic resides within. The down stem is fixed in place angling down to culminate in custom designed 8-slitted percolator. A unique percolator substantially larger than most I currently sell. Hard to describe but it kind of looks like an upside-down vase with slits along the very base. Your one large smoke bubble will work its way along the down stem entering directly into the percolator then exiting via one of the 8 slits. This action breaks down the one large smoke bubble into a multitude of smaller bubbles, effectively increasing surface area. More surface area equals to more effective filtration/cooling/cleaning of your smoke.
The flower bowl provided is the Grav 14mm Funnel Bowl, one of Grav’s largest bowls. This bowl is the only removable portion of this water pipe. There is a collar around the stem of the bowl enabling you to handle it safely, especially when hot. This bowl is male and fits 14mm female connections.
Measuring: 33cms tall and approximately 15cms at its widest.
