Grav, hands down are the masters of glass, scientific producers of glass if you will. A global reputation that is hard to surpass. Built to last, highly functional and as gorgeous as glass can get. Those in the know only and always use Grav glass. When Grav makes a water pipe/dab rig they know what they are doing. Built strong for a smooth and easy session. Oh, and so they don’t break easily either. Beautiful enough to display anywhere in your home, if that’s how you do things. I will always sell Grav within my Bondi Vape Store, that is how high I rate them.
Grav likes to make groups of products that are based around a central theme. In this case Grav has developed their “Sip Series” of glass bubblers. In case the name doesn’t give it away I guess they are referring to a variety of drinking vessels. This is my third foray into the Sip Series (check out the Milk Carton and Slushie Cup), and I hope to further expand my range soon. The Martini Glass has been designed by the infamous glass artist Micah Evans. I checked out his site and he can do some pretty impressive things with glass. You should have a look too, he is amazing.
The Grav Martini Glass (7” tall) is crafted to resemble an actual martini glass but with a very thick base. The round flat base is the narrowest point of this bubbler and it flares out as you reach the top. Not sure how to describe this but there is an indent about a third of the way up where you place your hand. I love holding this bubbler as I feel a little like James Bond with my “martini”. The all-in-one percolator/down stem within also resemble a martini glass (Bravo Grav!) and the water chamber is quite roomy. At the very top you will find the 14mm male removable bowl and a 2.5” protruding “drinking straw” that acts as your mouthpiece.
DOWN STEM/SWISS HOLE PERCOLATOR
Within the body of your Martini Glass Bubbler sits your martini shaped down stem, a fairly unique one too. The “flared” portion of the faux martini glass is quite wide the narrows to a thin tube and then widens to form the percolator. And what a percolator it is! A Swiss hole percolator looks kind of how it sounds, like swiss cheese with all its included holes. 9 holes in total. Swiss perc are said to deliver a one-of-a-kind natural (and exceptional) filtration process and is beloved amongst connoisseurs. In a nutshell the holes act like a barrier of sorts forcing smoke and water to move around effectively filtering and cooling the smoke for a super smooth hit.
TIP: Water level is quite important with a Swiss Percolator as you can easily overfill and get a not-so-very nice mouthful of water. I would do a test inhale (with no herbal material) after filling to determine if more or less water is needed. Take your time!
A “straw” juts out to the side of the cup and is perfectly angled to help prevent any splashing of water into your mouth during even the most intense inhalations. A fairly thick and durable straw that should withstand daily wear and tear, keeping in mind that this is a glass piece that should be handled with some level of care. In my estimation the straw protrusion is probably the weakest point of this bubbler and I wouldn’t carry it around using the straw as a handle.
Of course, Grav provides one of their high-quality flower bowls for you to use, a 14mm bowl (male) to be precise. This bowl sits at the very top of the bubbler and attached to the down stem via a Dewar-seal joint that sits flush with the top of the bubbler.
