Any followers of my Instagram will know that art (particularly street art) is one of my obsessions. Pair that with my obsession with destigmatising the usage (legal) of medicinal herbs and you will understand my excitement over the K Haring Glass Range.
Keith Haring was (dies 1990, aged 31) an American street artist and a social activist, massively famous in the 1980 for his iconic and vibrant artwork. He began by drawing in New York Subways and sadly was arrested for vandalism on a few occasions. Undeterred he continued on and started tackling some of societies biggest issues of the days via his artwork. AIDS awareness, gay rights and drug usage were some of the causes he believed in quite strongly and he used his artwork to educate. A vibrant visionary who used broad, bold strokes and ground-breaking imagery to spread messages of peace, love, equality, and compassion. Haring united New York City Street culture with pop art to create his own iconic visual language that continues to engage and excite.
FEATURES
Now that the art is out of the way lets talk quality. Quality was the first word that popped into my head when I gently removed this bubbler from its foam lined box (even the box is high quality). This is one solid piece of glass (thick borosilicate glass). Probably as unbreakable as any of the glassware that I currently sell. I would describe it as “bell shaped” with a flared-out base (easy to hold).
The base is very flat (for stability) with hand applied, heat resistant artwork on the base (inner and outer base) as well as on the mouthpiece protrusion. K Haring’s signature has also been hand applied to the body. Look inside and you will see the fixed showerhead percolator, featuring 8-slits that deliver advanced water filtration for cool, purified smoke. The flower bowl (on the larger side) is a built-in depression at the very top of the bubbler.
The water reservoir is on the larger side so feel free to customise your water level to your own style of inhalation and percolation effects, just make sure you cover the percolation slits. A carb hole sits ergonomically near the top of this bubbler, allowing you easily clear out any excess smoke within. The mouthpiece is angled and juts out to the side. The angle coupled with the extra travelling will further help cool your smoke whilst acting as an effective splash guard. The actual mouthpiece is really wide, thick, flares out and is reinforced.

8-SLIT SHOWERHEAD PERCOLATOR
The basic role of a percolator is to push smoke through water in order to filter out the smoke. Cooler smoke and a smoother (less coughing) is the desired result. Contaminants are filtered out (not all of them of course) whilst the large smoke bubble is broken up into many smaller ones. An 8 slit Showerhead Percolator is used in this bubbler, a fairly simple system that is kind of like the shower in your bathroom. The down stem flares out into a bulb at the base with 8 slits sitting side by side (parallel) at the very end and your inhaled smoke will pass through each slit evenly before entering the water. This is a very effective way to filter out/cool down your smoke whilst creating a pretty visually spectacular bubbling effect within.
