Ongrok was first introduced to me via one of my helpful staff members, she was particularly excited when I arrived one morning, and we then spent the day ogling their catalogue. I have since gone a little crazy and pretty much ordered their entire line-up for my shelves and to say I was excited when the boxes arrived is a slight understatement!
Designed in North America (AKA Canada) with what I would describe as a modern minimalistic flair. High quality materials are their go to; natural hardwoods, aircraft-grade aluminium as well as eco-friendly materials. Products that are sleek as well as discrete, a range designed with lifestyle in mind.
As for the name? Comes from the work “Grok”, a term used in Robert Heinlein’s novel – Stranger in a Strange Land. Definition? To understand something deeply, intuitively or by empathy. Which is exactly the philosophy Ongrok stands by!
Rolling Trays are very useful IMHO, an easy way to stay organised especially when you like to move about from room to room. They can also provide a flat surface wherever you may eventually end up. A good tray should be multi-zoned with high walls or why even bother? Ongrok makes 3 different styles of rolling tray (+ eco and sustainable bamboo) and this Acacia Wood version is my favourite of all. The largest of all their trays, it is a perfect square and is completely handmade. Each tray will be a little unique and no 2 will be identical. These trays are obviously multi-usage and I am currently deciding which version I want for myself (probably stone). I will be using it to store jewellery and my sunglasses collection!
Measuring: 241mm x 241mm (a perfect square).
Why Acacia Wood? A highly durable wood known for its density and hardness. A great material for heavy-use items as it is water resistant, resistant to fungus/mould and wont scratch easily. Acacia is also predominately used when food grade materials are required as it is considered to be naturally antibacterial.
TIP: There is a food grade protective coating on this tray giving it a nice polished/sleek look.
3 versions each with a unique marking – this is the Log Finish with a multitude of logs shown. Each tray has 3 distinct areas, each a different size and only one zone depicts logs. The walls between each zone and along the entire perimeter are rounded and quite high. The larger zone has a discard corner (gap in the walls) so you can easily sweep material off the tray. Lastly, there are little silicone feet upon the base to counteract any slippage.
