Down stems are a crucial component of water pipes, acting as a pathway between your flower bowl and the water chamber. Some stems are are simple tube design but most will provide some level of diffusion. Diffusion comes in the form of slits at the very end of the stem but more intricate percolation systems can also be attached. Diffusion provides the ability to break down one large bubble of smoke into a multitude of smaller bubbles. More bubbles = more filtration and a more comfortable/cooler experience.
As down stems are almost always glass they tend to break overtime, hence the need to stock replacements! I chose these particular ones due to their high quality but I will be honest, I adore the striped colours and they look so good within clear glass. Each stem has 4 evenly spaced holes for smoke to pass through. Made entirely from borosilicate glass, a superior form pf heat resistant and durable glass.
