Down stems are quite important but are generally overlooked until a new one is required. A water pipe can only perform its role if a down stem is functional. They come in many varieties but to make it simple they can fall into 2 basic categories; simple or diffusion. Simple down stems are just a straight tube that links your flower bowl to the water reservoir of your water pipe. A diffusion down stem will come with slits/opening, usually located towards the end of the stem. These opening break up one large smoke bubble into a multitude of bubbles. More bubbles = extra filtration and a cleaner/cooler/smoother experience.
This Smokea down stem is of the diffusion variety with 6 slits around the base. Made from high quality glass and the insertion port is frosted for an airtight fit. As for the fit, this stem will slip into an 18mm joint (female) of a water pipe at an angle. You water reservoir will need to be large enough for the down stem to fit comfortably. There should be a gap between the base of the stem and glass of your water pipe.
Total length: Just over 5″ (almost 13cms). The 4.0″ (10cms) length refers to the area below the frosted port, the portion of glass that sits within the water reservoir. Please ensure that your water pipe can accept this length. This down stem will hold a 14mm flower bowl (male) once in place.
